HEIDI STOBER: BIOGRAPHY Soprano Heidi Stober is gaining recognition not only for her beautiful voice but also for her exciting presence on the operatic stage. She has received praise for her performances with companies including The Santa Fe Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Wolf Trap Opera and Boston Lyric Opera. Ms. Stober begins the 2007-2008 season with her debut at New York City Opera as Poppea in Handel’s Agrippina. In December she will be heard at Lawrence University in Poulenc’s Gloria and travels to Hong Kong to sing selections from Handel’s Messiah and Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Ms. Stober then joins Houston Grand Opera as Blondchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail. Ms. Stober returns to New York in the spring to sing performances of Soprano III in Purcell’s King Arthur at New York City Opera. She will sing the role of Carolina in Jonathan Miller’s production of Il Matrimonio Segreto at Brooklyn Academy of Music. In the summer of 2008, Ms. Stober will sing Tigrane in Handel’s Radamisto at The Santa Fe Opera with conductor Harry Bicket. Ms. Stober is also a recipient of a 2008 Sullivan Foudation Award. The 2006-2007 season was marked with a series of celebrated debuts for Ms. Stober, starting with Boston Baroque where she sang the role of Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. She continued with her debut at Opera Colorado as Pamina in The Magic Flute where she also sang Oscar in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera later in the season. Her performances of Oscar with Boston Lyric Opera were hailed by Opera News as “vocally scintillating, brilliant… simply magnificent.” On the concert stage Ms. Stober appeared as soloist with the Houston Ballet in Orff’s Carmina Burana and with the Houston Symphony in Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem under Hans Graf. She ended the season singing La Folie and Thalie in Rameau’s Platée for her debut at The Santa Fe Opera. Heidi Stober has sung multiple performances with Houston Grand Opera, including the roles of Drusilla in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Xenia in Boris Godunov, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Norina in Don Pasquale, The Rose in The Little Prince, and La China in the world premier of Salsipuedes. She appeared at Wolf Trap Opera in summer 2006 where she sang both the Comtesse in Rossini’s Le Comte Ory and Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro. She has also performed at Central City Opera, Milwaukee Opera Theater and Utah Symphony and Opera. Ms Stober recently completed her residency in the Houston Grand Opera Studio, which she joined after winning first place in the Houston Grand Opera 2004 Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers. She was also the recipient of the Stephen Shrestinian Award for Excellence for her performances in Boston Lyric Opera’s Die Fledermaus. Heidi Stober is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and Lawrence University.
